Asya,

A Taste of Fine-Dining At Asya Restaurant, Eton Centris

7/19/2011 02:47:00 AM Ice Goddhez Blog 3 Comments

I spent my Sunday lunch-merienda with my beloved Fafi Emman and we didn't hesitate to taste the offerings from this restaurant, namely, Asya.

T'was our first time to eat there. I ain't really a fan of Filipino food. I normally go with Chinese or Japanese cuisine offerings like North Park or Tempura, and the likes. My dear would normally prefer the local dishes, like what we get from Gerry's Grill or similar. This time, he won the pick once more, hehe.

The place was not overly populated yet with establishments. Eton Centris or Centris Walk and its nearby areas aren't filled with stores yet. There's quite a few stores out there so the decision-making wasn't that hard. Asya caught our attention because of the unique furnishings like the chairs. I thought the "heads" were for real! Haha. A little scary though, I guess; but it's quite amusing. I didn't take a photo of those anymore hehe.

Surprisingly, there were only two (2) tables with guests. One was ours and the other one, with no other than Tim Yap. He's the guy in the middle from the photo above. He was gorgeous and elegant, with his simple yet sophisticated style. I admire this guy for his business-mindset. Good thing my boyfriend ain't jealous at all, haha. He has nothing to be jealous about anyway, hehe. Our love is stronger! Yay! *kilig* And so, withour further ado, we had our photo taken with Tim. He's such a nice guy to accommodate our request.

And now going back to Asya hehehe ... The meals we ordered didn't take long for preparation. I believe it only took them 10-15 minutes and then we had everything set. I don't really memorize the names of the dishes we ordered so here's my best try:

  • 1 Sarsi in can
  • 1 ripe mango shake
  • 1 cream dory and tofu in white sauce
  • 1 sizzling crispy pork sisig
  • 1 chicken cutlets in lemon sauce
  • 1 bagoong rice

I have to say that the serving size is big enough to be shared by two (2) people. With Fafi's appetite, I thought it wouldn't be enough. LOL. But to my surprise, we even had leftovers after the sumptuous meal! When we dine out, we normally order three (3) different viands. The variety keeps my appetite full than trying too many of one thing. Also, my dear loves the different tastes as well so we pretty much keep this standard in ordering.

Also, the serving size is just apt for the price of each item. Being the thrifty-Chinese me, I would splurge only on items I deem worthy. I always reason out too that when it comes to food, well, I work hard and earn enough to taste good food ... and this one is definitely worth trying! My beloved Fafi thinks the same ... or even, uhm ... better! He's more thrifty than I am. In fact, he doesn't really spend much on ... anything! But he believes it's best also to share fine-dining with me. Hehehe. So we didn't mind the cost we had to share here. Yup. We share! Sometimes I pay, sometimes he does. I don't want to be forever reliant on him lah~ And neither does he. LOL.

The ambiance was also good. I guess it's best for families and lovers to share as well hehe. It's quite peaceful and quiet. Outside, you would see some falks having a quick exercise with their puppies. Some folks stroll with their families, loved ones, and barkadas. You wouldn't hear the noise from the jeepneys and buses nearby - since it's a highway out there (EDSA) and the place (Quezon Avenue) is not yet a well-established business district ... or maybe, I'm speaking too early. LOL.

The taste is awesome! I never had such a tasty sisig as this one we ordered! The rice alone can be taken in w/o viand! LOL. Fafi was even crying for one more round! LOL. But so far, we had more than enough. We took home quite an amount of leftovers (well, I mean the part we haven't really "touched" yet - not necessarily entirely leftovers hehe). Their food presentation makes it even more enticing and they look enormous. You'll definitely keep on asking for more.

The area is really promising. I look forward to seeing more establishments open up soon. We're actually interested in checking out the lease for stalls as well. In the near future, I see it further developed and it'll be successful! No doubt about it. We'll definitely be back!
