Flipsters: The Collapsible Flip Flops

1/17/2013 09:23:00 AM Ice Goddhez Blog 26 Comments

At Nail It Salon with my Flipsters
It's post-holiday season!!! It's the time of the year when we're out for lots of shopping, strolling, and the likes because all SALES / DISCOUNTED / MARKED DOWNS all pop out this time of the year. Our loveable feet would get tired from walking and needs the much needed care and support too!

Late 2011, and somehow last year 2012 (I need to get accustomed to calling 2012 "last year" haha); I believe that the trend on foldable and rollable shoes and slippers have taken fashion bloggers and regular users alike by storm. I see them everywhere ... almost! LOL. In quite a number of posts, features in magazines, etc. I did manage to get myself one and I must say, it's pretty comfortable. Check out my post about Footzyrolls - The Rollable Shoes.

While I really don't believe it's something as important as regular footwear, I think it still has its uses. And so, I found myself not just having one shoe but two pairs now - well, the other one is a pair of slippers and this is what I'm writing this post about. Technically, it's called the collapsible flip flops and honestly, I guess I wouldn't even be having one had it not been because I needed one! LOL.

I was having my regular manicure and pedicure session and just right after my foot spa, when I realized that I did not bring my trusted slippers that time (well, technically, Havaianas) so I really couldn't go home afterwards even after drying my nails a bit. So I had to rush to a nearby shop at the mall. Thankfully, I found this.

And so, I just continued with my session after buying a pair. Talk about impulsive buying now! LOL. Well, let's just say, I was shopping in need! Haha!

The pack comes hanging with its uniquely shaped open box carton and pouch. I actually like the shape. It looks like a tear-shaped pouch and very handy. Each pack comes with this custom designed zip pouch to keep Flipsters clean and tidy.

Handy Flipsters as described in their site, are great for the beach, pedicures, travel, or getting home in style at the end of the night. The rubber outsole sole is durable and long lasting, and there should be a soft insole that is cushioned for your comfort as the website shows. I can see the delicate patterns done on it outsole; carefully printed with the brand name. It's not something like any of the regular flip flops we see. However, my slippers did not have the soft insoles. I wonder why? Hmmm ... these aren't fake ones lah~ Got them from a prestige line of footwear ...

Anyway, Flipsters promise to be the stylish take-anywhere pair of folding shoes, always there to help out when our dear feet are in need of some loving comfort. It has its unique 3-fold design that gives us the comfort when walking, and easy packing when not in use. Take for instance my case, I was in dire need during my pedicure session. LOL. It folds easily back to its shape to easily pack it after use. It spells comfort for feet made easy!

The only part of it that I don't like is the visible glue patterns at the back sling's side. Not really talking about the adhesive part lah but look at the edges. Also, I guess, the satin straps too-thin like a ribbon lace that, I actually did not find it sturdy enough. Well, so far, this has served me for months so I can say, it's not too weak as well afterall. Hohoho~

These slip on footwear comes in four (4) sizes: XS, S, M, L. Since it's made in Australia, not in Asian size, I thought I'd get a Size 7 (I'm a size 8 for Asian sizes footwear) or "small" per their labeling. However, it turned out too big for me so I got the Size XS (6) instead. It looks just right and fit for my feet but, I think it's pretty manageable.

I got mine from a local multi-brand restaurant-themed shoe store designed to satisfy one’s infinite appetite for shoes - Res|Toe|Run. The regular price is P990 which I found highly expensive for a thin, thong-style slippers. I had discount coupons from my Belle De Jour so it was toned down by a mere P200 for my final purchase. However, I think it's still rather expensive for a regular priced item. If not because I needed one that day + I had a BDJ discount; I wouldn't consider buying this.

There were only three (3) colors available that time - Black, Watermelon (like pink), and Copper (this brown color I got). The website shows me more varieties of colors though but, well, I am satisfied with my purchase already since the color is more neutral and can be paired with other outfits if needed.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Fully waterproof and machine washable
  • Durable and abrasion resistant outsole
  • Super comfy cushioned footbed (which I didn't get in mine)
  • Soft satin straps that do not rub between your toes
  • Folds to the size of an iPhone
CHAI'S VERDICT: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (4 Stars!!!)
