Dress Code Policy: Love It? Hate It? Whatnots?

As a fashion enthusiast, I'd say I LOVE IT. I ain't saying I'm a fashion expert lah~ So before you bash me or anything - hold that thought now! (^_^)

Being in a work place that follows and upholds dress code policies, it's a bit of a challenge to dress up well. Sometimes, all we want is just to dress comfortable like how we do at home. If only I can splash on my shorts and tank tops; I would. But definitely, I wouldn't. I adhere to the Dress Code and I abide by the rules. I guess I can saw I'm a law-abiding citizen. LOL. While mostly, there are people who'd hate it. I would understand cost implications; style factor; fear of dressing up with a public audience expecting something from you ... and a lot of other reasons. However, there are also quite a few who'd love to dress up; like me. It boosts our self-confidence and it does help ... especially for others. I know I've been a person of influence to some and it's really quite flattering that there are other people who look up to us. And I'm happy I helped them in several ways too; with "dressing up" as part of it.

The art of power dressing! Yes. I definitely encourage that. If you've been following my blog, you'll know in one of my posts why I did sign up for a Lookbook.nu account. From simply sharing my everyday wear, it has become my advocacy to share the art of power dressing to everyone and simply share how I think I can be of influence, to all the girls who run the world out there; who are like me in one way or another - a corporate chic with youthful vibes. Like I said; working in a corporate environment doesn't mean I need to be caught by the fashion police, right? So let's all dress up to express ...

What I Do on Instagram

With the advent of the popular iphone App Instagram into android, I believe I immediately downloaded it right on the day itself. Excited much?

At first, I thought it would be redundant. There's a lot of other apps already; I mean at least for me, the ones I use to upload and share photos online. I've got Twitpic for a year or two already; and more recently, tumblr for my photoblog. I constantly upload photos on Facebook too - in a number of mobile upload folders. I also think I found the best photo editing tool for my Android phone anyway since last year - Photo Wonder. So I thought, why would I still need instagram? Well, I think I found more than enough reasons. While it may have limited functionalities and you can only do filters to "beautify" your photos, I think it has a better promise as we actually use it.

I'm sure there are lots more ways for us to use this mobile app but for me, I use it for the following reasons ...

The True Test of a Leader - When You Say Goodbye

Goodbye, Eric!

And just in case you guys are wondering, well, Eric isn't my boyfriend lah! And no, he didn't go missing or something ... He's actually my boss. I can't help but post this here because he's leaving and ... this affects me so much ... because he has touched my life in more ways that he could imagine.

He isn't really that kind of a boss like one of my past bosses whom I fondly called Daddy Jack; from whom I also learned a lot of valuable lessons in life ... and to whom my post A Call To Young Leaders is dedicated to. This time around; I dedicate this post to Eric...

Me and Mr. Eric Petrosevich, Managing Director for Client Services;
with my colleague, Jixy

Sir Eric ... okay I'll be straight ... we just call him Eric because he wants us to veer from the Sirs ... He's very low-profile and he's not the type who bosses around. While we don't agree a lot in many items (you bet, I insist my side a lot too, LOL); in the end, it's the respect that we have for each that prevails and eventually he trusts my business decisions - which also succeeded a number of times (and kept him from reworking my tasks hehe). Initially, we had contentions as he leads and there was resistance on some other factions but he eventually earned that respect from other departments too. I believe he's such an effective leader - that it's too bad and sad that we're letting him go. At first I couldn't understand (like a child whom their dads leave them behind) but as he explained well ... I eventually understood. In fact, I am happy for him now and I just need to accept the fact that he's going to better place where he could lead & help more people like me.

Baby She-Ra with Dogs And The City

And after years of having a pet, I finally have a new puppy again ... meet my new Baby She-Ra!

My New Baby She-Ra
My last dog died after being harshly beaten by unloving burglar neighbors from the previous house where we lived ... and caught in fire & ashes in 2006 ... It's been years that we didn't have a pet because we thought, we couldn't afford to care for another one. It's been painful before ... but we really love dogs and despite the years of gap w/o a pet ... I finally had another one! Thanks to my friend, Kyn, I have my new baby!

Why She-Ra you ask? Well, I wanted to name her with an anime-ish name because of my passion for anime anyway heheh. And She-Ra is a fictional cartoon character from an old kiddie anime show that I remember ... dressed up in white! My new baby is WHITE and so she's now She-Ra! And lookie! She's a fashionista like me! Hehe.

My Sexy Revolution Starts Now

Me way back 2005
My slimmest was back in 2005 I think ... Gosh I dunno if I can ever bring that figure back. I didn't have flabby arms and a tummy bulging out. I am not skinny though but I wasn't ... uhmm ... fat. I can't deny the fact that a lot of folks got ... well, attracted to me. I was all natural anyway hehehe. And this photo is a testament to that ...

My arms aren't toned but slim. My face doesn't look chubby at all. My cheekbones are visible (count those rosy cheeks too bwahahaha) ... As I look at it now, I can't imagine how I even considered myself "fat" back then. It was insulting to others, I dig! Because, well, where are the fats in here? Can't help but wish I still have that bod 'til now.

My question now is ... WHAT HAPPENED? My eating habits of course have changed. My lifestyle. My workload. My sense of style and fashion. Everything. From a size "small" ... now I get mostly medium from international brands ... and wow ... a large size in Asian brands! Unbelievable? It's true! Can't accept it myself!

Pimples? Try Etude House AC Clinic!

I have sensitive and oily skin so I really can't use just any other product. Either I'd develop rashes or they will just complicate my skin condition - for whatever purpose I should've bought that product for. One of my most common skin problem is having pimples. There are many reasons why I have it of course - stress, night time work, oily foodies + oily skin, lack of sleep, lack of water ... among many others. My skin is so sensitive that oftentimes, even without stress and all those factors I mentioned, I get lots of pimples because of dirt & dust ... too hard to maintain, right?

My Etude House AC Clinic Set
I've tried many other products out there. Facial washes, scrubs, leave on creams, etc. but not all of them works. There were quite a few so allow me to share how a few of them indeed helped me.

Today, lemme share with you one of the product lines of my favorite beauty line - Etude House. This set is called AC Clinic! The set looks too "clinical" actually that the outside appearance makes it already work! LOL. Well, I believe the packaging is good enough that it ain't considered too-cosmetic-centered and that it's a specialized product line that'll really help, right? It starts with the mind set anyway!

Clothes for the Goddess Shop

I first learned about this shop from top fashion bloggers - Camille Co, Tricia Gosingtian, and Kryz Uy. The first thing I really liked is the fact that there's a variety of styles and Asian brands to choose from when I hovered the shop! Of course, the clothes that these fashion bloggers have sported are overly-likeable and at first, I thought those would be too-costly. However, when I checked the prices, they aren't too-pricey! They're still affordable!

Getting clothes that really match your every-style is a little tasking. Every girl like me would try on different sizes, different colors or variants, etc. Usually at malls, this is a normal occurrence. But online shopping has made this far-easier! And seeing the clothes you want on these top fashion bloggers may seem unreachable but now, this shop has made it all possible! And yes, I'm talking about the Clothes for the Goddess shop or simply, CFTG!

My Favorite Asianvogue Shoes

If you haven't noticed yet, I'm a fan of this shop - Asianvogue Shop.

It's my Ultimate Fashion Resource (since this lovely girl offered Asian clothing - mostly Korean fashion and Taiwanese fashion if I'm not mistaken) ... and now, it's a Shoe Shopping Haven too! We all play favorites, right? And I ain't no saint not to have a fave from my current Asianvogue pieces. I guess I got countless already! LOL.

If you've checked my past posts about this shop, you've probably seen a few, esp. my recent post about shoes. But you haven't seen me wear it with my fave outfits too right? So lemme share my favorite shoe!

Gianmarco Lorenzi-inspired black suede wedges from Asianvogue
This pair is definitely a must-have! It's so versatile and I guess it doesn't go or will never go out of style. The color and the overall look pretty much-matches most clothing style and season. And just how do I pair it with either my corporate or casual attire at work? See more after the cut ...
