PSY - GENTLEMAN Song Beats Gangnam Style

4/30/2013 09:18:00 AM Chai Chen 59 Comments

It's been weeks since it was launched. A lot of people have anticipated that Psy would actually be just a one-hit-wonder with his GANGNAM STYLE (강남스타일) song. However, he's proven us all wrong. And since the launch of his new video, it's been successful and has surpassed the charts. What song? Of course, none other than Gentleman.

The beats are not all good as others observed when the single was released. A lot of speculations spread that it will not be as successful as Gangnam Style. It was a down trend; won't be as popular, yaddah-yaddah-yaddah. Psy did promise he'll teach a new "dance craze" which may not be entirely new; as it's been popular in Korea already. It was dubbed as the the Arrogant Dance and it would be as hit as the Horsey Dance Step popularized in Gangnam Style. This dance step was originally popularized by another Korean Pop Group, the Brown Eyed Girls or more known as B.E.G. in South Korea, as the "Saucy" dance where they move their hips from left to right. Since 2010 when I saw it in their video Abracadabra - I've been so hooked to it. And seeing it in Psy's video is actually cool, especially as he features another girl in his vid, who happens to be Ga In from the same girl group that showcased that Saucy Dance.

Indulge Into Self-Pampering with Beauty & Butter

4/26/2013 09:40:00 AM Chai Chen 68 Comments

I've been visiting their shop since last year ... some time since October I think. It's been a worthy routine. Every now and then, we need to treat ourselves with good skin care and other beauty regimen and treating out hands and feet with some love and care is definitely a must-have nowadays. Gone were the days when manicure and pedicure treatments are just luxury. It is now a necessity, given the amount of stress we all have to bear. Some relaxation needed.

Each shop would vary in terms of the way they do their services. The regular manicure and pedicure treatments will have different methods per shop. They will also vary in terms of the "ingredients" and the tools used. Overall, it's the way each nail technician would treat your hands and feet that may make all the difference. Are they caring enough? Do they really pamper you and do all the cleaning you need? And those, I believe; are present in this shop I'm featuring right now - Beauty & Butter. If only I had time to do these myself (and know how to properly do them on BOTH hands ... and yes, feet), I'd do them but since I know they're experts, I leave it to them. And just how do they treat me? Read after the cut to find out ...

My Daniel Wellington Classic Winchester Lady Watch Review

4/24/2013 09:02:00 AM Chai Chen 128 Comments

Since I saw this watch on many fashion bloggers' wrists, I can't help but want to have the same. I admire the design and the classic or vintage vibe it boosts. A couple of months back, I checked on this fabulous website filled with these types of watches, of course where else but at http://www.danielwellington.com/ right? I was hoping to find a lot of variations in style, color, and dial but to my surprise - whoooaalaaaa! It's all the same classic dial and the only thing that changes is the strap. So I thought, hmmm, this must be special - like those classy vintage watches you pass on to the next of your kin huh? LOL. And this must be really pricey ... and as I checked the price, they were indeed costly.
Chai and her Daniel Wellington Classic Winchester Lady Watch

So I kinda lost hope in wanting to have my own Daniel Wellington watch, knowing that I personally couldn't afford it. Well, maybe yes I can but it would cost me a fortune of my month's salary and I had to sacrifice my other "needs" and expenses just to get one for myself. The one I wanted costs $175 (Php7,000) and that's already a piece of my house expenses (I'm the breadwinner in the family - which you can read in my "About" section). So I told myself, blaaaahhh ... fuhgedaboutit!!! But what's this I saw? A little spark of hope! Daniel Wellington was giving away and sponsoring these watches to fashion bloggers with quite a huge population of followers! So then, I grabbed that opportunity and took my chance on this Daniel Wellington sponsorship. And the rest was history ...

GWIYOMI / KIYOMI Song (귀요미송) by Hari (하리)

4/21/2013 10:00:00 AM Chai Chen 80 Comments

So, who hasn't heard of 귀요미송 Gwiyomi or Kiyomi Player yet? That fun and cute song with this cute voice, accompanied with these cute hand signals / gestures type of dance / action popularized by Korean signer Hari 하리 ... as of yet? I'm sure in one way or another, you've heard of it. It has become the new dance craze! The "Kiyomi" or "Gwiyomi" as it's spelled romanized or in English (whatever), is a Korean slang meaning someone who is cute and it has become the latest web-viral sensation, taking teens across Asia, among others. And it didn't escape me and my sis so we did our own rendition hohoho~

Mostly popular in teens and the younger generation (although we believe this would be ageless and there's quite a number of versions from young and old-alike ...); a multitude of users have uploaded their own videos as well, doing the same action steps following the cutesy finger routines. Youtube has been taken by storm, which such a gazillion hits by these videos.

Have you done your version yet? See after the cut to view my version, together with my sister. Yay! Don't laugh!

Combat Dark Eye Circles with Etude House Eye's Cream

4/18/2013 08:52:00 AM Chai Chen 83 Comments

One of women's worst nightmares I guess is having dark eye circles, alongside deep eye bags, fugly eye packets / puffiness. Agree?

I just recently talked about one way to care for the areas around our eyes and using Etude House's Collagen Eye Patch may help for that care. But of course, that may not be enough right? Especially when you've already acquired those dark eye bags ... uuugghhh!!

Similarly, I also carry that burden. Don't be fooled by my outfit photos - of course I get good lighting and some of those taken by photographers are already post-processed. And with proper make up (ehem BB cream), they get carefully hidden with concealers as well. But with my bare face, especially with close up of my face / self capture photos - you can see that I have those imperfections too. Nobody's perfect and I've accepted that (more of, a fact anyway so that makes me feel lesser angst vs. my dark eye circles haha) and so should you so you start feeling better about your self. I do that too hehe. Of course, I've somehow prevented those dark circles from further worsening already so now you see me with better aura and the darkness have lessened, somehow ...

But then again, I know we all want to find ways to still help alleviate that problem right? We've read about those proper eye care and eye make up and beauty products to combat them. I personally have tried several other ways but of course, not all were effective. So how about this product from Etude House then? Let me share with you how I find it ...

SheInside Christmas Grand Giveaway and Product Review

4/15/2013 09:07:00 AM Chai Chen 56 Comments

SheInside is probably one of the most successful online fashion shops around. With close to about 99,000 fans on Facebook; countless users and fashion bloggers around the world; multitude of giveaways; and loads more.

I am one of those fans who always look after the next giveaway - be it from other fashion bloggers, their Facebook giveaway, Polyvore set giveaway, or their site's own giveaway. And in one of those giveaways, I luckily won. I mentioned that in a few of my past posts (and this one is long overdue again hehe) and I just found time to blog about it now. And even if this is now posted; it was a long road before this even got posted (with many other posts in queue lah~ Sorry!)

That giveaway I joined was the SheInside Grand Christmas Giveaway found also on SheInside Blog Post. The mechanics were pretty simple - for a series of 5 weeks 'til Christmas, we just had to share the photo of the featured products (new coats to be exact) on any social media platforms. There were 3 winners each week and the winners have to come from 1) most likes in Facebook; 2) most pins on Pinterest; 3) random winner. I won category 1 in one of the weeks. Read on to find out more ...

Earn Money Online with Sponsored Reviews

4/11/2013 09:23:00 AM Chai Chen 82 Comments

Coming from my semi-rant post before this about My Thoughts on Follow Requests; one thing you'll notice there is about a few blogger comments about the "many ads" I have. I personally believe I still don't have as much. You see, there are those bloggers I also follow, who even have more followers (thousands and thousands of them) who have tons of ads placed all over their site - either on Sponsors section; in text ads; logos / pictures in blog posts; etc. I guess some visitors just don't really understand what's going on ...

In this post, allow me to share one of the ways that I've proven effective where money really comes in. Don't believe me? Well, I suggest you try it out for yourself.

Blog Advertising - Advertise on blogs with SponsoredReviews.com The method I will feature in this post, specially, is about writing a comprehensive review for several advertisers and you'll get a chance to earn per post by simply adding their links, logos, among others. And when we talk about "reviews" per se, it is not just a bunch of photos and a few texts. Knowing that I'm such a blabbermouth sometimes, I took the shot. And from there, it already did wonders! This way, my friends, is about SponsoredReviews.com.

I've personally tried and tested this site and it really works. It's no bogus site unlikes others I think. You might actually find great reviews about this site. I recommend signing up and exploring your opportunities now.

My Thoughts on Follow Each Other Requests

4/08/2013 09:09:00 AM Chai Chen 39 Comments

So ... I've been getting a lot of these requests (and I'm sure it's common in the blogging community) primarily in the area where I'm currently concentrating - fashion, beauty, cosplay, reviews ... and the likes. Personally, I have nothing against it and I would love to say it out loud, specially to my dear readers, followers, and guests now (and future visitors who'll see this). However, I must say I have a few "pet peeves" when it comes to this request.

Do you get these requests too?
Original Photo Source: Click here

This will be entirely my opinion so whether you love it or hate it, I guess I'd probably not care. Well ... maybe I'll care too ... somehow ... a little. Of course, I value my readers' comments / feedbacks and as a blogger, I guess it's really important. Your readers thoughts matters so yeah ... I'll care. It might be subjective though - I'd listen to my regular readers more as they've been frequenting and commenting on this blog more. We're exchanging thoughts and giving feedback to each other which is really important. There's already a level of trust and understanding. There are some who seldom visits but have been my followers for long - I'd listen to them too. But maybe for random guests, I'll think about it ... it depends on the juice of the matter ...

Allow me to give it a blow-by-blow account as to how I view it and the varying situations that affect my opinion about it ...

Outfit Post: Unpretty ♭♪ ♫ ♬

4/05/2013 08:20:00 AM Chai Chen 128 Comments

One of the songs I grew up with was Unpretty from the trio girl group known as TLC. The lyrics lingered through the years and always had a soft spot in me. I think it's pretty influential and straight to the point, straight to the heart ... it has definitely touched and moved me. The message sinks in and it becomes pretty-motivational. At some point, it serves as the words I wanted to tell some people ... let's sing together ...

My outsides look cool, my insides are blue
Every time I think I'm through it's because of you
I've tried different ways but it's all the same
At the end of the day I have myself to blame I'm just trippin'
You can buy your hair if it won't grow

You can fix your nose if you say so
You can buy all the make up that M.A.C. can make
But if you can look inside you, find out who am I too
Be in a position to make me feel so damn unpretty
Yeah, I'll make you feel unpretty too

Yeah sometimes, I feel unpretty and have lackluster dressing like this ... lazy dressing of some sorts. LOL. So I just put on what I see around. Makes sense?

Red Essentials with Maxnina Clothing

4/02/2013 08:53:00 AM Chai Chen 26 Comments

A few months back, I went on as a bridesmaid in one of my friend's wedding. I used to be a bridesmaid in a bunch of my friends' weddings; and a number of my relatives' weddings.

White Swan?
Wedding dresses must be white yeah!
It's been more challenging years back since there's not a lot of tailors available and you really have to go to some remote places to have the gowns done. I remember once instance when I was a young teen and had to dress up. I had to go with mom and my cousin just to get my fitting / sizing done and we had to do it for a number of times, until the actual dress is done.

Well, now, gone are those days when we have to undergo that hassle of going to far away stores and repeatedly do it just to get our entourage clothing done. While it's now much easier given the  growth in such stores; it's also much easier that we now have access to such clothing via virtual or online shops.

The recent wedding I attended have gathered inspirations from the dresses in this shop too. From the bride's own gown to all of the bridesmaids' dresses - everyone's clothing seem to have been inspired by this shop's offers. Isn't it great to avoid the hassle of physical shopping and fitting? And Maxnina offers that! The shop offers wedding gown and tons of other clothing in the shop. Go ahead and discover more ...
